You might be wondering how I rate my reviews.

Is it purely on content? Grammar? Or lack there of?

How about the emotions that I felt while reading the book?

Does the hype of the book influence my rating?

Do I get paid to give books five coveted stars?

No matter how I wish to get paid for rating and reviewing books, all my reviews and ratings are purely my own.

Let me break it down for you.

I LOVE THE BOOK SO MUCH I COULD DIE!!!

The book is a literary masterpiece.

This is the type of book that I couldn’t seem to put down or lost sleep for without any regrets. It is most likely flawlessly written, have amazing characters that are strong, and unyielding to whining and “instalove.” The “feels” is big for me. So if I give a book 5 stars, I was most likely reeled in by the way the author wrote, or the feelings I felt, or by the characters I can relate to. The book definitely made sense, and is the type I would re-read (after I finish my long list of TBR ofcourse).

I really like the book!

You know that feeling when you are torn between liking something and loving it? Well… This is it. Everything in the book seems perfect. It’s just… I don’t know. Missing something?

I like it.

These type of books are ok.

These books usually give me that sense of déjà vu. You know that feeling like every Teens and YA book you pick up and read feels generic, contains instalove, shallow characters, some type of world building and personality of the characters, but just doesn’t resonate to you? Yeah this rating is for that kind of book.

Eh… Could be better.

A big let down.

Did not live up to the hype.

No world building at all.

Characters are as bland as water.

Pointless plot.

Lots of eye rolling involved.

Probably the only thing that’s nice about the book is the cover.

WHY DOES THIS BOOK EXIST???

These books are the DNFs (Did Not Finish).

These books make me question the author’s editing team.

These books make me question the publisher and the amount of money they invested.

These books make me want to plant a forest of trees because of all the paper that was wasted.

These books are the reason why you should read reviews so your time and money won’t be wasted.

And there you have it, folks! I hope you consult book reviews before buying new books or before jumping in the band wagon because of the “hype.” Like I said, all my reviews and ratings are my own thoughts and feelings. I advice you to consult more than one source before spending your hard earned money (or your parents).

Happy reading!
